Springfield Post Investigates Serious Injury Crash


The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on Shrine Road just West of Upper Valley Pike.

At approximately 11:55 am on May 3, 2017 a Chevrolet Pick-up, driven by Randy Ford, 58, of Springfield, Ohio was traveling north bound on Shrine Road when he drove left of center and struck a Kia Optima head-on that was traveling south on Shrine Road. The Kia was driven by Louise Carse, 87, of Springfield, Ohio.

Randy Ford was transported by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital with possible life threatening injuries. Mr. Ford was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Louise Carse was transported by squad to Springfield Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

Alcohol may be a factor in the crash.

The Springfield Post was assisted at the scene by the Clark County Sheriff’s office and Springfield Township Fire and EMS.

The crash remains under investigation.
