Clark County Commissioners Anticipate Voting Equipment Purchase

At the May 24, 2017 meeting of the Clark County Commissioners heard a presentation from Board of Elections Representatives Jason Baker and Amber Lopez. The presentation represented a preliminary proposal for the replacement of the voting machines throughout the county. According to Baker and Lopez, the current voting machines were purchased in 2005 from ES & S. Because of the need to transport the machines from the board of elections to the polling locations, the equipment is jostled and dinged. The machines are failing regularly during critical times in the voting cycle. They are proposing a total replacement of all the current equipment. During the last election 49 ballots came in to the Board of Elections un-scanned at the polling location. Baker and Lopez have four quotes for the basic equipment, one quote for American with Disabilities Act (ADA) voting equipment and a quote for security carts that will protect and secure the equipment during transport.…

Solid Waste District Will Loan Recycling Containers

The Clark County Solid Waste District will loan portable recycling containers to anyone organizing a public event or festival in Clark County. The containers are available at no charge, but must be reserved in advance, on a first-come, first-served basis.
The event organizers are responsible to pick up and return the containers, as well as to make sure the recyclables are taken to a collection station. The District maintains five stations in Clark County.…

New BCI Crime Laboratory Unveiled in Springfield

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today joined officials from Clark County and the city of Springfield to unveil a new Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) crime laboratory.
Scientists working at the new laboratory, which is located in the Springfield/Clark County Public Safety Building on Fountain Avenue, will focus exclusively on drug testing. Scientists will test drugs submitted from local law enforcement agencies in Clark County as well as drug evidence submitted from elsewhere in the state. …
